FPSO Aoka Mizu

The Aoka Mizu is the seventh vessel, completely designed, built and owned by Bluewater Energy Services BV. The vessel will be deployed on the Ettrick field located in the North Sea about 120km north-east of Aberdeen. The field, discovered in 1981, is operated by Nexen Petroleum U.K. Ltd in cooperation with Bow Valley Energy and Atlantic Petroleum.
Three production wells are tied back to the floating production, storage and offloading vessel Aoka Mizu. The FPSO has a 35.000bpd of fluid capacity and 30.000 bpd of crude oil production capacity.

The separated crude oil is stored on the vessel in cargo tanks with a total capacity of 600.000 barrels where it will be kept for offloading. Offloading can be performed at a rate of 5200 m3/h in volumes of over 500.000 barrels. The vessel has a 18 MMSCFD gas lifting facility, with an export capacity of 20 MMSCFD.

The crude oil offloading metering skid was engineered, constructed and installed by ODS metering systems.

The new flow metering system monitors and controls the two flow meter runs and separate master meter run. It also provides all required cargo offloading and diagnostic reporting facilities.

The entire offloading metering system is controlled by a Dual Redundant Server eXLerate 2003 application communicating to the dual redundant flow computers and a dual redundant Siemens station PLC for metering and station control. The servers and PLC's are situated in the local equipment room. A KVM extension is provided for direct accessibility and daily operation from the Central Control Room. The supervisory computers are the primary interface to the metering skid but are also connected to the onboard Kongsberg Control System for data hand-off of metered values, diagnostic information and operational supervision.

The eXLerate application provides color mimic displays including all required data of flow computers and associated equipment, including batch and cumulative totals. The dual redundant system provides full data transparency, automated report synchronization and true flexibility for the operators in the day to day operation of the offloading metering skid.
